Sky Doctor & Koh Lipe Health Center Successfully Test SAINT Emergency Air Evacuation Protocol
Sky Doctor and the Koh Lipe Health Center have successfully completed a field trial of the SAINT emergency air evacuation protocol, validating triage, dispatch and the coordination of air evacuation through the SAINT app.
Article 1Objective of the trial
The trial tested the protocol end to end in an island setting, where reaching advanced care depends on travel across the sea or by air.
Article 2What was validated
Patient triage at the point of care, using the standard assessment in the SAINT app.
Dispatch and allocation of resources from the coordination center.
Coordination of air evacuation with the receiving hospital.
Article 3Roles of the agencies involved
The Koh Lipe Health Center served as the triage and first-care point. Sky Doctor coordinated the air evacuation, and NIEMS contributed recommendations on emergency medical standards.
Article 4Next steps
The findings will be used to refine the protocol and extend it to the Andaman wellness corridor. The protocol remains at pilot stage, and results will be reported transparently.
